Why hut4?
The origins of data science may be traced back to the Second World War when British Intelligence officers at Bletchley Park were tasked with cracking the codes created by the German Enigma machines.
Whilst the world is familiar with the work of the mathematicians and their code-breaking computers, less attention is given to the band of professors and historians who resided in various locations - including a wooden building known as Hut 4 - and pieced the data together to tell the overall story.
I was fortunate to be mentored at University by a previous resident of Hut 4, and the combination of skills that were displayed there - cutting edge computing power and their ability to collate the information into a powerful story - has influenced me to found hut4 to operate in the field of Data Science.
